Codognotto strengthens its presence in Turkey with a new branch in Istanbul.

Codognotto Group has opened a new subsidiary company, Codognotto Turkey in Istanbul.

The decision is part of the company strategy aimed at enhancing its intermodal offering outside Europe and create, in Istanbul, a central hub for connecting Europe to Middle East countries.

Within this plan, Turkey will be linked to Italy, Poland, Germany, Austria, Benelux, the UK, Slovakia and Spain through the company’s existing network of intermodal connections starting from Trieste area, whereas the connection with North Africa, will be available thanks to the agreement that has been recently signed with the Tunisian Company Vectorys Group.

The new branch will also play a central role on the corridor towards Central Asia and China. This route – including Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and China, will represent an important alternative for companies avoiding the Northern Corridor through Belarus and Russia.

“Turkey is a key player for both European and Eurasian transport.” explains Fabrizio Battista, FTL Division Director Eastern Europe of Codognotto Group.

“Its economy is growing at a very fast rate, particularly for textiles and fashion, automotive and electronic goods. These large volumes will need to find for their way from the country abroad. Despite the strong competitive scenario in this area, the growth of Turkish exports and the central position of this country, make Turkey a strategical site for moving assets from and to Europe.”

Codognotto Turkey will include both commercial and operations departments, in order to be close to local legal and cultural particularities of these regions. Inside its main activities, there will be a key focus on developing new synergies with the company’s existing intermodal service that combines road and rail freight from Poland, Italy, and Turkey.
