Software Support & Application Specialist

 

The role:

We are looking for a qualified Software Support & Application Specialist to design and code interface to applications.

You will work as part of a team and individually with little supervision.

You will be considered as the company front liner and you will solve basic technical problems and provide support to all assigned areas. The goal is to make sure that customer value is maintained to the standards set forth by the company.

A Software Support Specialist has basic knowledge of at least one programming language. They must be familiar with data management and XML/ETL tools. The ideal candidate will also have an analytical mindset and a keen eye for detail.

The goal is to write “clean” and flawless code to produce fully functional software integration according to requirements and that customer value is maintained to the standards set forth by the company.

 

Includes:

  • Understanding client requirements and how they translate to new application features
  • Collaborating with the development team and other IT staff to set specifications for new applications
  • Manage data interfaces to business applications
  • Serving as the first point of contact for internal customers seeking technical assistance over the phone or email
  • Performing remote troubleshooting through diagnostic techniques and pertinent questions
  • Determining the best solution based on the issue and details provided by customers
  • Training of the new and existing personnel

 

Responsibilities:

  • Understand client requirements and how they translate in application features
  • Collaborate with a team of IT professionals to set specifications for new applications
  • Design creative interface prototypes according to specifications
  • Perform unit and integration testing before launch
  • Conduct functional and non-functional integration testing
  • Troubleshoot and debug applications
  • Evaluate existing applications to reprogram, update and add new features
  • Develop technical documents and handbooks to accurately represent application design and code
  • Serve as the first point of contact for customers seeking technical assistance over the phone or email
  • Perform remote troubleshooting through diagnostic techniques and pertinent questions
  • Track, route and redirect problems to correct resources whenever necessary
  • Serve as the first point of contact for customers seeking technical assistance over the phone or email
  • Update customer data and produce activity reports
  • Walk customers through problem solving process
  • Identify and suggest possible improvements on procedures (IT and business-related)
  • Follow up with customers, provide feedback and see problems through to resolution
  • Utilise excellent customer service skills and exceed customers’ expectations
  • Ensure proper recording, documentation and closure
  • Preserve and grow your knowledge of help desk procedures, products and services

 

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in SQL and one of these relational database systems: SQL Server, Oracle, Postgres
  • Good EXCEL knowledge both in use and scripting
  • Ability to program in at least one programming language such as C#, Java, Python etc.
  • In-depth knowledge of XML and related tools (Altova)
  • Excellent understanding of software design and programming principles
  • A team player with excellent communication skills
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving capability
  • Great attention to detail and time-management skills
  • Good communication skills both in English and Italian language
  • Working knowledge of help desk software, databases and remote control
  • Strong client-facing and communication skills
  • Advanced troubleshooting and multi-tasking skills

 

Nice to have knowledge or experience on:

  • (GOOD) knowledge of Logistic and Transport Domain
  • Experience on use TMS software
  • Experience in designing and building applications
  • ETL Experience (like Microsoft SQL System Integration Services)
  • Master Data Management Knowledge
  • Knowledge of one of this reporting tool: QlikView, Tableau, PowerBI
  • Proven experience as a trainer.
